With so many headphones on the market these days, choosing a perfect pair of DJ Headphones is a daunting task. After 13 years of International DJ experience, I have tested out tons of models of DJ headphones.
Today I am reviewing the very cool looking Numark Red Wave Headphones that come at a very affordable price of under the $100 mark. If you’re looking to buy DJ headphones that look super nice and professional, with superb sound quality and will not break the bank – be sure to have a look at this review!
The Numark Red Wave Headphones look gorgeous. My first thought was that they look like the much more expensive Technics RPDH 1200s, both are very similarly designed.
This pair of Numark headphones is very comfortable and is in the lower end of the budget. They offer quite a bit for the price.
You will mostly use them at home, but they will work well if you use them for your DJ gigs.
Numark is one of the more popular manufacturers of DJ equipment, they offer a wide array of DJ Controllers, Mixers, Media Players, Headphones, you name it, they have it. Numark is a very good brand that is directly competing with Pioneer; sometimes better than Pioneer, other times not as good. Numark is still a fantastic innovative company that has brought many joys to the DJ world and has been doing so for many years.
The Numark Red Wave Headphones simply look gorgeous! As soon as you open the box you will be amazed. I just loved the red detail, it just looks so cool. My first thought was that they look like the much more expensive Technics RPDH 1200s, both are very similarly designed.

Just be careful with them as I’ve heard they are known to break. I believe any pair of DJ headphones can survive a very long time if you take care of them.
Numark Red Wave headphones model is actually very good quality for the price. They are definitely a great choice for the beginner DJ who just started out and wants to look professional.
These headphones provide very nice sound quality with a big Bass boom which will definitely help you when beat matching. They are super comfortable, and again - they look so nice!
They come with a long cable that can be detached for easier portability, or even replaced in case it breaks. Have in mind that it’s a quite long straight cable and not a coiled cable as with some other headphone pairs.
You can also fold the headphones making it easier to take them wherever you go and the package even comes with a nice leather carry pouch! Also, this pair of headphones comes with a detachable plug so you can use them with your phone/tablet or laptop, I find this to be a very useful feature. I wouldn't recommend going to the gym with them as they are still too big for that.
A lot of beginner DJs choose this model of headphones for their price and looks. They come at a low price below $100 which is really great if you're on a budget. They will definitely do the trick and will not disappoint you in any way unless you’re an audiophile, but then as an audiophile be sure to buy those $600+ headphones if you can afford them.
I found these headphones to be quite decent for the price. They are very light, look and sound good - I consider them to be an ideal choice for the price range. They have metal hinges instead of plastic so you don't have to worry too much about breaking them, every pair of headphones will always be in tip top condition if you take care of them.
Every ear cup has one-way swivel feature which can be very handy when mixing.
There are 2 things I found a bit annoying – firstly, the leather on the ear cups will make your ears sweaty after extended use and secondly, sound isolation can be a problem as my friends standing next to me could hear everything I was listening to – you might have a different experience during use.
To sum up this review, I have listed the pros and cons of these headphones:
This model sells for under $100 in DJ and electronic store all over the world.
If you’re looking for good headphones at a similar price of $100 or below, I would recommend:
My honest opinion is that this is the absolute best DJ headphones model you can get for under $100. Some say that these headphones sound like Beats By Dre which is really good if you're looking for that sound as for the price of one Beats by Dre you can buy 3 of these.
With a very attractive price, attractive looks and pretty good sound quality you can’t go wrong. Go for it, get them if you like them, even if you decide to switch for something better later, they will always be a good backup pair.
If you are a Numark DJ equipment user and you already own some of their DJ equipment, these will look great as a set, especially if you own an NS7 or any other type of DJ Controller made by Numark.
There is nothing wrong with these headphones, a great pair for a low price.
Most importantly, I would like to note that before any purchase, I would only recommend that you try them out first, compare to other pairs you’re interested in and see what you like the best. Every person has different hearing, you might hate them or you might love them, but only you can decide that.
